Eating Disorders

Hollywood stars, supermodels are those people who we are willing to look like, live like and act like.  The majority of teenagers worldwide are dreaming about having a body similar to Angelina Jolie or Tyra Banks, and unfortunately they are doing everything to get the expected results. Unfortunately, because the majority of these acts contain taking diet pills, fat burners combined with not eating at all.

These kinds of dreams and the need of looking like a supermodel is dramatically increasing the number of eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia. Unfortunately the results of these unrealistic, fairytale like aspirations and dreams are always the same: a sick body and mind, illness and broken self esteem.

Millions of people are suffering from eating disorders and a part of the cases end up with death. One of the most common eating disorders is Anorexia Nervosa. This type of eating disorder is one of the most complex ones including both, external and internal conflicts, like the feeling of being out of control, stress, anxiety, low self esteem or unhappiness, conflicts, which are leading the individual suffering from Anorexia to a negative way to cope with these emotions. Individuals suffering from Anorexia Nervosa in the majority of cases are extremely sensitive about being perceived as fat by other people or they are having abnormal fears of getting fat. That is why, after a period of time the feeling and sense of hunger disappears. The fear of controlling the amount of food they are eating daily is combined with the desire of emotional and reaction control resulting in more stress and further eating disorders. Because of the low self esteem and the will of being accepted people suffering from Anorexia often turn to radical dieting and starvation.

Another commonly occurring eating disorder is Bulimia Nervosa. People suffering from Bulimia are acting almost entirely the other way than people suffering from Anorexia. These individuals tend to eat enormous amounts of food in a short period of time, after which they are using radical methods, like self induced vomiting or taking laxatives to eliminate the amount of intake food out of their body. These people, just like those suffering from Anorexia blame their selves for some emotions and happenings, have low self esteem and are trying to let out and avoid the feeling of anxiety, stress, anger and depression. People suffering from Bulimia are often aware of the fact they are having disorders, but the desire of punishing themselves and the emotional disorders is higher.

Both of these eating disorders can lead t clinical depression, the loss of self esteem and emotional disorders and the causes are also similar. Fortunately with proper expert and medical help these eating disorders can be cured, but there are unfortunate cases, when the cure comes too late …
